Maren Anderson currently serves as President of her own consulting firm, which specializes in market research and reimbursement planning. Maren and her colleagues provide consulting services to early stage drug, biotechnology, diagnostic, and device companies nationwide.
Maren has worked in health care consulting and policy for more than 26 years. She was a Founder of Health Technology Associates (1988), which was acquired by Covance in 1996. Covance Health Economics and Outcomes Services Inc., helped launch hundreds of biotechnology drugs, traditional pharmaceuticals, diagnostic tests, imaging technologies, therapeutic devices and supplies, surgical instruments, and vaccines. In 1999, Maren retired from Covance and moved to Boston. During retirement, she managed her investments, served on corporate boards, and advised Internet health companies and small-start up entrepreneurs who were in market niches that did not compete with Covance. In 2002, she resumed her career in consulting. Since 2002, she has been President of MDA Consulting, Inc., a small firm that offers expert advice to start-up health care companies and to the venture capital and investment banking market.
Earlier in her career, Maren worked as a consultant for Lewin and Associates (1981-1988) in Washington, D.C. When she first came to Washington, D.C., she served as Presidential Management Intern assigned to the Health Care Financing Administration in 1979-1981. While in graduate school, she served as an Analyst for the State of California Department of Health Services, specializing in Medicaid financing issues. For several years in the late 1970's, she worked for the City of San Francisco's Mental Health Advisory Board.
She attended Wellesley College and received her BA from the University of Michigan (American Studies with honors). Afterward, she attended UC Berkeley's Goldman School of Public Policy and received a Masters in Public Policy in 1979.
